Monday did not go so well folks. I started off the session fine as we were doing "baselines" for core, arms and leg strength. I was surprised I did better with planks (core) than legs, and I always thought I was "leg strong". Anyway, we were supposed to have done this in session one but the other trainer was too busy kicking my butt! At this gym, they set you up with a few people they think you will like so that you can train with different people if one guy is off or something. Well, this trainer is actually in the Master's program of the Health Promotion and Education program I am getting my PhD in. Small world Cincinnati.
After the baselines and measurements (let me tell you, it is super awkward having a cute guy measure your boobs and butt. I just stood there trying not to laugh cause I am a third grader disguised as a 26 year old. I kept trying to make jokes but I don't think he thought I was funny) we did arms. I have little arm strength but he taught me how to do a better push up. Unfortunately, at the end of this workout I started feeling dizzy. "Meredith stop being a little baby", I first told myself. But then the dizziness didn't go away and I felt like I was going to puke. I was also breaking out in a cold sweat. Trainer dude did not seem to get my cues and we kept going. I finally told him I thought I was about to die (jk I just told him I felt sick). Then he asked if I wanted a protein smoothie which sounded disgusting so I said no. I just imagined smoothie all over the gym floor. I was SO embarrassed but he told me he had people "pukin' everywhere" after his first session before so that I shouldn't be. Fantastic. I hobbled out of the gym to my car and sat their for about ten minutes until I was convinced I could drive home. Mer In America: Out.
I felt better after eating a nanner (a banana) and later that night my friend Bee's personal trainer guru boyfriend told me my "blood sugar dropped" and that's why I felt so terrible. I am going back for training on Monday and am so nervous I am going to nearly pass out/throw up again, but I just have to have confidence that I won't. Send good personal training energy this way!
Hope everyone had a good Christmas! I saw American Hustle and it was a 3/5 stars for me. Even though I do love me some Jennifer Lawrence, Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper.
Ouch! Totally happens to the best of us. I always down a Gatorade or at least a caprisun before I hop into the car to the gym so by the time I get there I have lots of energy. Sometimes, I'll even eat a full meal. If you're not used to that though I don't know if that's a good idea... it sounds like you're getting whipped into shape which is a good thing! Blood sugar problems are so real though. I was training with the army and they typically give us these MRE things aka a meal with thousands of calories but it's pretty gross so they gave us a different kind of boxed meal. Moral of the story is I had a headache until the next meal and was sluggish until the next meal. First bite of caloric food and I felt my head clear up almost instantly.
ReplyDeleteI know...now,lol! Thanks for reading girl!
DeleteMere, I've been doing hot vinyaysa flow yoga since march. Have you tried something like it before? I didn't think i'd like it, but I'm so in love with it and it's really made a difference in my body and my running! I'm goingn like 2-3 times a week and it's a WAY better and more effective workout. I feel like I'm in a sorority at the studio I go to, and I'm doing a mix of dance and gymnastics at the same time. It's called Harbor Yoga...you need one in cinci!
ReplyDeletethe only prob is I have limited funds, as I've spent so much on the weddings!
