You're Either In Or You're Out...

This famous phrase was probably tagged by Heidi Klum, host of Project Runway. I used to be an avid watcher, but then I got addicted to political shows and the Real Housewife franchise.

Anyway, this phrase popped in my head last night when I was dinnering (I know this isn't a real world) with my friends Maggie and Courtney, who forced me to "celebrate" my birthday (I do appreciate it, I am just being a brat;) We were talking about how we are getting older now and dealing with nonsense isn't really necessary. I define nonsense as people and things that make you feel a) annoyed (i.e. want to roll your eyes)  b) bad about yourself (i.e. want to flip a table) or c) extremely bad about yourself (i.e. mope around with all the shades drawn and your sunglasses on a sunny day) in your personal life.

At work, you may need to put up with an awful boss or unnecessary tasks because if not, you're ass will get fired. However, I feel like I am at the point in my life where I am making two groups: In and Out. Does this mean I am going to be a big meanie pants to people I am not a fan of? Absolutely not. Tact and class are very important attributes of a lady such as myself. I am defining the "out" group as people I am going to give less power to. These people can't hurt my feelings or take up my time and energy.

More importantly, I want to focus on the positives, or the ever so lovely "in" group of my life. These are the family and friends that support, love and encourage me. These relationships aren't perfect, but they are valued. Valued relationships get effort. Relationships or acquaintances in the out group...your shi** out of luck.

I'll let you nuggets know how this works out!

  1. I think you are spot on about your in/out groups. As I've gotten older I've learned to appreciate quality over quantity. There are just some people that are toxic and need to go away, or at least keep a good distance. Ain't nobody got time fo dat!

  2. Stopping by from the 'That Friday Blog Hop' ... I used to be addicted to Project Runway, but I lost interest in it somewhere along the way, I don't even know if it's still on television LOL!
